How much JW love is enough?

i've noticed over my short time on the forum that one of the indictments levied against the jws is the lack of brotherly/sisterly love that they extend to the follow jw.

i remember my first congregation (i was about 14/15).

of the nearly 200 people there i was only ever invited to two brother's homes over a 2 year period.

Also everybody is trained to be a narc, so we were afraid to get close to anyone. An elder could take you in the back room for saying something 'human' about someone, and then the next thing you know, they'll be giving a 'local needs' talk about the women, and how they have a tendency to 'gossip' in the congregation!!!!!

Where is heaven???

Hi...friends..was wondering about this lately. Could heaven be right here on earth in time? In 1Cor.15:35- 57.. Paul talk about our bodies being changed in a twinkling of eye from a fleshly body to a spiritual body. Also says from a corruptible to an incorruptible body, we will be changed. But doesn't say there, that the body will go up to heaven, just changed.. Just wondering if it was possible our bodies could be spiritual if they are not bent toward sin and imperfection like the bodies we are inhabiting now.

Also in John 14:1 &2..talks about Jesus preparing a place for us after telling Peter that he would stumble 3 X's...in verse 23...it says the father and himself shall come to us and make their abode with us. Doesn't say we will go up to heaven with them but they would come down with us....Could that be when the holy spirit was sent down on Pentecost 33CE..????

Also was thinking how for 4,000 years the Jews' hope was earthly. So it would make sense, in that sense..What do you think, friends??????

Can someone explain the whole Armageddon/judgement thing to me??

i've been doing a lot of research lately about jws and their beliefs for various reasons, not the least of which is curiosity (don't worry, i'm not converting - i'm curious, not insane!!

), and i've come across a few things that don't make much sense to me.

well, most of these things don't make sense to me, but some stand out more than others.. so, in my wanderings, i've seen lots about whether or not jws believe that they're the only ones who get to survive "armageddon" and live in "paradise earth" and such, and the general answer tends to be, "well, others will get the chance to be resurrected at "armageddon", too, if they're worthy", or something like that.

that was a good summary. They think only JW's will live, everyone else will die. They've even said that you have to be baptized or the unbaptized children of a baptized one. No wonder the witnesses have to be so afraid worldly association...ugh

the slave class, is one i can think of since they made many additional rules, that not has a solid scripturally ground, about what is right or wrong for a christian.

did jesus told his disciples how to cut their hair or how they should practise sex within marriage?

The Toes of the Image...

a few weeks ago some visiting speakers wife gave a comment that almost made me want to hurl.

these people are know for having "goods" in the form of info passed along from people at bethel.

anyway, i guess one of these bethel guys have been saying in their talks that we are so deep into the end of this system that in relation to the giant image related in the book of daniel, we are now not simply in the peroid of time represented by the feet, we are in its toes!

A bethel brother told us we were in the toenails , the hour of judgement but didn't tell us why they thought it...so that's one of the main reasons I dropped out. Just this last summer.

8. In Dan.7 he's taken up to gain access to God and given the kingdom as a "son of man". If he was already @ God's right hand, why the need to be taken up?

I think J.W.s would be the last people to recognize and accept him, as Jesus would be battling the governments and we know JW's think anyone who is not a witness are politically neutral and Jesus would be battling the governments. So just like the 1st coming of Christ he would not be accepted. confused Also because the WT says he's coming as a spirit their minds would totally reject this idea!! crying As we are not even allowed to entertain the idea of anything different from WT doctrine.

Hello all, appreciate all the comments. and Linda..we have a similiar story. I wonder what made you leave, doctrinally? I do have alot of disagreements now. I think all the prophesy is completely off. I don't agree with the strict of judging of people, disfellowshipping as they do, being so afraid of association, forbidding to marry or have children @ times, and higher education and neutrality. I just went to a peace demonstration today. Maybe I made it sound like I agreed with almost all of it...but alas no.

so after rutherford dies despite his conviction about the millions living back then that would never die, knorr becomes the new wts leader.

some have to say that the real power behind the throne was franz and knorr was just his puppet.

at a time when the wts was to expand globally franz who loathed long distance travelling got knorr to fly around the world to organise that expansion.

Rutherford fired all of Russell's board members so he could have everything his way. Think he looks very stern and like he wants control, if looks mean much, I don't know. He also stopped the beards...as the men are still suffering for today. At least the men I know would like to have a beard.!
